Richard Smith

Richard Smith is an actuary who has worked in the pensions industry for over 20 years. In addition to his work as a trustee representative, he acts in an advisory capacity for a portfolio of trustee clients, and also has extensive experience of supporting sponsoring employers of occupational pension schemes. Particular areas of expertise include accounting for pension costs, liability management exercises, dealing with the pensions issues arising from M&A activity and scheme funding.

Before joining Spence & Partners in 2014, Richard worked for two major benefits consultancies holding senior roles in both actuarial consulting and management positions. He became a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 1999.

Outside work, Richard is an international croquet player, and a keen-but-fairly-average long distance runner.
