A Personal Perspective on Pensions Management Success

15th October, 2024

  • Starting strong at Dalriada Trustees

Since joining Dalriada Trustees in September 2024 as a Pension Manager, the experience has been positive. Although it is still early days the expertise and enthusiasm within Dalriada’s Pensions Management team are already evident. The team’s commitment to providing clear, dynamic, consultancy to in-house pension teams and Trustee Boards is a standout feature.

During the recruitment process understanding how Dalriada supports clients through governance and compliance monitoring was a key focus. Since joining it has become clear that Dalriada’s approach goes beyond being just another advisory firm. The company integrates closely with clients focusing on problem solving through collaboration.

From my personal perspective on pensions management, rather than simply providing advice, the teams work hand-in-hand with clients to achieve shared goals.

Coming from a previous role as Amazon’s in-house Pension Manager, the numerous success stories of clients outsourcing their pensions management to Dalriada stood out during the job search. These stories highlighted the company’s ability to offer support exactly when and where clients need it most.

What resonated strongly was how Dalriada’s approach has helped in-house teams achieve a better work-life balance, a vital aspect for anyone managing the growing complexities of pensions.

    A team-based recruitment philosophy

One of the aspects that distinguished Dalriada from other organisations was its team based approach to recruitment: the company actively seeks individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varied skill-sets, ensuring that the team can approach clients problems from multiple perspectives.

From a personal perspective on pensions management, appointing Dalriada to support your in-house team not only mitigates key person risk but provides access to a broad range of expertise and diversity of thought—both crucial in today’s complex pensions landscape.

Dalriada’s adaptability in tailoring its pension management services to meet the unique needs of each client is another key strength. Whether it’s a hands-on day to day support for  a larger scheme or a lighter touch for a smaller scheme needing guidance and assurance, the flexibility of the service  model is impressive.

Growth, expansion, and meeting regulatory demands

The growth of Dalriada’s pensions management service is equally remarkable. From a single individual to a team of 20 in just over two years and from one client in June 2022 to a portfolio of 37 clients -mainly through word of mouth – this rapid expansion is a testament to the quality of the service provided.

With increasing regulatory demands, such as pensions dashboards, The Pensions Regulator’s General Code and Guaranteed Minimum Pension equalisation (GMPe), the role of the pensions manager continues to evolve and grow exponentially.
