From Client to Colleague: Dalriada’s In-House Pensions Support

17th October, 2024

  • Choosing the right partner for Pensions Management

There are many firms out there to choose from, and you might have trouble deciding which one to work with. With so many firms to choose from, it can be challenging to decide which one to collaborate with.

Although I recently joined Dalriada’s Pensions Management team, I’ve also experienced being a client of Dalriada during my time as an in-house Pensions Manager.

    Challenges of In-house pensions teams

A common challenge for most in-house teams is around resourcing – the smallest team I worked on had two people.  The constant to do list and shifting priorities can make it difficult to stay on top of workloads, and that’s before the Government’s frequent changes to pension legislation that keep the industry on its toes.

As a manager on an in-house team, there were occasions when we needed external assistance – an experienced professional who could step in, take over, and ideally do so with minimal handover time. As a customer, I wanted reassurance that the task could be completed to a high standard, quickly and with minimal hassle.

    Why Dalriada stands out

Dalriada excelled at meeting that challenge. They provided a friendly and approachable voice at the end of the phone and a reassuring presence on Teams. No task was too big or too small, whether it was taking minutes (following a strict in-house format) at short notice or drafting a summary of Trustees’ powers (including designing the format) – Dalriada’s extensive knowledge was invaluable in supporting the  in-house pensions team.

Whenever I was unsure on how to approach something, Dalriada would always provide a range of ideas to proceed with, tailored to my specific requirements.   Their support was always delivered with warmth and professionalism, making me feel that my Dalriada colleagues were an extension of the in-house team.

For those of you who have worked on in-house teams will appreciate the unique nature of the role. You need to be a jack of all trades with current knowledge on all things pensions as well as the ability to manage areas including IT systems, communications, HR legislation and budgeting (to name but a few).

The advantage of working with Dalriada is that their Pensions Management team has access to a wealth of expertise within the wider team providing you with specialised knowledge and support when needed. Dalriada’s in-house pensions support ensures that your team has the expertise to overcome challenges efficiently.
