Charles Ward

Charles is Managing Director of our Dalriada.Together and Non-executive trustee portfolio.

He is an accredited professional trustee with experience of appointments ranging in size from under £5m to over £1bn, drawing on his experience of over 29 years in the pensions industry.

He has extensive experience of journey planning for schemes and specialises in end-game solutions, having secured bulk annuities for a number of his schemes and reviewed the feasibility of implementing capital-backed journey plans, member options, scheme mergers and superfund solutions for others. He was also closely involved in the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries working group on capital backed solutions.

Charles’ style is pragmatic and collaborative and he works closely with his scheme sponsors to find solutions that work for all stakeholders and that deliver the best outcome possible for scheme members.

Before joining Dalriada in 2019, Charles worked as a strategic pensions adviser for a number of high profile companies.  During his consulting career, he led projects that delivered innovative funding strategies (including asset-backed funding), long-term journey planning, scheme buy-ins and buy-outs and PPF Levy management. He also has experience of dealing with the Pension Regulator on a number of challenging cases and was the appointed Scheme Actuary to a portfolio of schemes.

In his spare time, Charles’ passion is cycling and motorsport, and spending time with his young family.
